Step 1: enquiring

Does enquiring affect my credit score?

No. Our 60-second enquiry involves no credit check. A credit check only comes into it once you've spoken with an expert and chosen to go ahead with an application.

Will you send my details to lots of lenders?

No. We don't do spray-and-pray. A person reads your enquiry and matches you on purpose, rather than sending your details out to a crowd of lenders.

Why do you ask for accurate details on the form?

Because the form decides where the conversation starts. Accurate figures for the amount, purpose, turnover and any property mean our expert can point you to the right loan on the first call instead of the third.

Does it cost anything to enquire?

No. Enquiring and talking with an expert is free. Fees on an actual loan are set out in the offer before you sign anything.

Step 2: what's possible

How much can my business borrow?

Property-secured business loans range from $20,000 to $5,000,000 against residential or commercial property. Unsecured, cash-flow and line-of-credit options for trading businesses are typically $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements. The right amount is the one your cash flow can carry comfortably.

Do I need property to get a business loan?

No. Many trading businesses borrow unsecured, based on their bank statements. Property security simply opens larger amounts, longer terms and more options.

Can I get a business loan with bad credit?

Often, yes. Past credit issues are considered case by case. Security, steady deposits and a clear explanation of what happened all count.

Can a business loan pay off an ATO debt?

Yes, tax debt is a common reason to borrow. ATO debt is considered case by case, and acting early usually opens more options.

Can a new business get a loan?

Sometimes. Newer businesses have less history to assess, so property security or a strong owner background often matters more. Read our page on time in business for the details.

Can sole traders apply?

Yes. Sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts can all apply. The loan must be for business purposes.

What can a business loan be used for?

Business purposes only: stock, equipment, vehicles, wages, tax, fit-outs, buying a business, bridging a gap, refinancing business debt or growth. Not personal spending.

Step 3: funding and repayments

Do you publish interest rates?

No. Every business loan is priced on the business's own circumstances. Ask for the total cost of finance in dollars, then use our repayment planner to see how it sits against your turnover.

How long does approval take?

It varies with the loan type, the amount and how quickly documents arrive. Unsecured loans assessed on bank statements generally move faster than property-secured loans that need a valuation and legal work. Your expert gives you a realistic timeline.

Where do the funds go?

Once the loan is approved and settled, funds are paid into your business bank account, or straight to a supplier, another lender or the ATO when that's the purpose.

Can I repay a business loan early?

Many loans allow it, but some charge an early payout fee or a minimum cost. Check the offer and ask for the early repayment cost in dollars before you sign.

Weekly, fortnightly or monthly repayments: which is best?

Match repayments to how money comes in. Businesses paid daily or weekly often find weekly repayments easier, while those billing monthly may prefer monthly. The repayment planner shows each option side by side.
